ASPPA Expands Outreach to Investment Professionals
401(k) Summit Resources Keep Advisors Informed
The American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries (ASPPA) announced an expansion of The ASPPA 401(k) SUMMIT beyond the annual 3 day meeting to an on-going initiative to provide cutting edge support and resources for retirement plan professionals.
“Investment professionals are on the frontlines helping Americans achieve retirement security as they navigate a tenuous economy, comply with an ever-changing regulatory landscape, and manage a diverse client base,” said Sheldon H. Smith, President of ASPPA and Partner at Holme, Roberts, Owen, LLP. “Over the past 10 years, the ASPPA 401(k) SUMMIT has served as a premier event for advisors, fund managers, and administrators (TPAs). The expansion of the SUMMIT to an on-going dialogue throughout the year is a natural outgrowth of ASPPA’s mission to provide leadership for retirement professionals.”
Beginning this month, ASPPA will launch an e-newsletter, a series of free webcasts, and other resources designed to keep advisors informed of the latest trends, regulatory changes, and resources targeted to enhance and grow their practices. The first webcast on June 22 will feature a Washington Update from ASPPA Executive Director and CEO Brian H. Graff on the latest legislative and regulatory changes impacting advisors. Later this year ASPPA members will receive access to a new sales and marketing toolkit designed specifically for investment professionals.
ASPPA’s recent partnership with the College for Financial Planning on the Qualified Plan Financial Consultant (QPFC) credential, highlights the professional development ASPPA has created to meet the needs of retirement plan advisors.
“I attend the ASPPA 401(k) SUMMIT because the networking and educational opportunities are unparalleled. I chose to become a QPFC because of my interaction with ASPPA at the Summit. I’ve found the professional development gives me the ability to stay current and create the competitive advantage needed for success,” said Michael A. Chisnell, Jr., QPFC and Director of Investment Marketing for ValMark Securities. “This initiative is a great way to bridge the gap from the once a year meeting at SUMMIT to the development of a community of investment professionals where we can share information and tools with each other to ultimately deliver better retirement experiences for the participants we serve.”
