Joshua Gotbaum, Director of the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) braved Hurricane Sandy and opened the impromptu “Ask the Experts” session by commenting on a recent 2011 Gallup survey which he described as “terrifying.” According to the survey, more than three-quarters of Americans between the ages of 30 and 49 are very concerned about the adequacy of their retirement savings. Gotbaum pointed out that ASPPA members and the PBGC have a job in common: encouraging private retirement savings.
