Robert Richter Becomes 43rd President to Lead ASPPA
ASPPA President & Officers to Serve 2011-2012 Term
WASHINGTON (October 23, 2011)—The American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries (ASPPA) today inaugurated Robert Richter as 2011-2012 president of the organization during the opening session of the annual conference at the Gaylord Hotel, National Harbor, Md.
“It is my privilege to turn over the presidency to Robert Richter. I have known and worked with Robert for many years. He is a natural leader and an exceptional practitioner. With Robert at the helm, ASPPA is well positioned for success in the coming year,” said Thomas J. Finnegan, ASPPA’s immediate past president.
Richter is a vice president at SunGard in Jacksonville, FL where he manages the consulting department for the Relius solution,
responsible for drafting and supporting qualified retirement plans, cafeteria plans and self-funded health plans. He is a frequent lecturer and author on topics related to cafeteria plans and qualified retirement plans. Richter has served on numerous ASPPA committees and currently serves on the Board of Managers of AIRE, LLC. He is a Fellow of the American College of Employee Benefits Council and is a member of numerous associations including The Florida Bar and NIPA. Richter received his B.S.B.A. degree (major in finance) from the University of Florida. He received his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Florida State University and his Master of Laws in Taxation (LL.M.) from the University of Florida.
“The next year will be both challenging and exciting. The private retirement system is being targeted as part of federal deficit reduction measures and it’s critical that our industry be represented in these negotiations. None of this is possible without the commitment and involvement of our membership. An involved membership is symbiotic—it strengthens a member’s ties to our association and this, in turn, strengthens our association. I encourage all members to get involved with ASPPA—it’s an experience that can provide meaningful and memorable experiences,” said Richter, ASPPA President.
ASPPA’s officers for 2011- 2012 were also recognized:
President Robert M. Richter, APM
President-elect Barry Max Levy, QKA
